Paper Smooches Modern, Clean and Simple

I love this Paper Smooches cover die, Retro Arrow.  It has been a go-to for many of my creations. The card above was an amazing happy accident when I just happened to lay the cover die on a scrap of digital paper (from the Lilypad) and what you see is what I saw– and just adding a little embellishment from the Stitched series by Amy Tangerine– voila!  Done and fun, simple and striking.

I love using alcohol inks and glossy paper to create custom colored panels from which I can cut sentiments or images.  I used the Paper Smooches Super 2 city die here, layered intentionally to line up with the geometric paper so it looks like layers of a city in the background.  I was also inspired by the way the sun catches buildings at the end of the day, particularly here in Seattle, and throws a rainbow of fractured light around the buildings.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches Fun and Flirty set, which is a must-have set!  I have always loved Paper Smooches for the fonts and sentiments and there isn’t one in the bunch I won’t use over and over.  The journal card was embossed with brick folder from Tim Holtz and cut with MFT circle die.

Finally, I haven’t blogged much yet about my scrapbooking, mini-albums, and layouts, but I have created quite a few and have a bunch of pages in the works.  It is a really fun departure from making cards.  The card above inspired this little journaling card to commemorate our time in NYC a few years ago as we walked from morning to sunset, from Greenpoint to Williamsburg, across the bridge to Soho, Greenwich, and finally Chelsea visiting the High Line as the sun set on a lovely May day.  The photo above is one of my favorites from the whole trip.
