Mix-It Up!

Hi Everyone!

Just popping in with a few cards for the Ellen Hutson Mix It Up Challenge that unites Avery Elle and Essentials by Ellen products.

It’s a new year, so time to break into some new goods and put together a card that represents the freshness of the new year.

I wanted a lot of white, airy space with pops of fresh color– the spots of aqua glitter paper reflect the icy blue of January, but the Gather papers from Crate Paper move us closer to Spring– and who doesn’t want to move in that direction?  I don’t know about you, but once I get past the holidays, I am pretty much done with snow and winter fun– easier for me since I live in the PNW, where spring typically comes as early as mid-February!

The Avery Elle Petal Plate Die was cut from white linen 100 pound card stock and elevated to create some dimension. I used two types of vellum silver and white to create my leafy border which uses the berries from wild garden. The sentiment is by Julie Ebersole cut from cherry wood veneer.

The inside is finished with a strip of featherly aqua blue washi along the bottom.

The next card features Wild Garden layered flowers atop a halved Avert Elle Petal Plate.

The Gather paper collection was also used for all die cuts here.

Finally, a simple blue layered piece with vellum floral spray of Wild Garden and topped with Avery Elle die cut sentiment from the Just a Note set.

The inside features patterned paper a la Kelly Griglione of Notable Nest!

Again, I used a combo of silver and white vellum.

Hope you found some inspiration today if you need some post-holiday thank you’s or a bright greeting for someone still knee-deep in winter!

  1. Wow, Kate, such loveliness in all those delicious delicate layers on all of these beautiful cards … that first one in particular is spectacular! Wishing you joy, creativity and good health in 2017! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  2. I am always in awe of your cards, Kate. The textures, the colors, the papers, the bit of ephemera all work in perfect harmony on each card. Love how you’ve also challenged your inner Kelly, too. Fabulous creations. : )
    P.S. No February Spring here in WI…. : (

  3. Oh my goodness….this is just filled with beautiful cards Kate!
    Love that Petal Plate.
    Gorgeous cards!

  4. OMG! Kate, your cards are (always) so incredibly gorgeous and unique… I could spot them miles away :). I don’t have words for the first one, it’s so stunning with all the foliage and beautiful patterns… bonus – it looks like an open book, how cool!
    Have a wonderful New Year!
    Thanks for visiting my place.

  5. KATE!!!! Ack!! I LOVE ALL OF THESE!! I raced over here after seeing your post on instagram (forgive me for the delay, I am such a newbie, with only my second post last night, hahaha.) As I was racing I was confused, and excited, trying to figure out how how your gorgeous layers would tie in with me. Then I saw your inside! Love it! You couldn’t have planned it more perfectly with the solitary orange center getting tied to all the orange flowers inside. What an amazing card! That silver and white vellum is definitely a winning combo. Also love the wood veneer sentiment on a dimensional angle on your first card.

I finally figured out your style … Anthropology! Right?! Your cards look exactly like the goodies in my favorite store. They would fly of the shelves if you could figure out how to mass produce them, hahaha!

Thanks so much for making sure I saw this! I am so honored you thought of me. Wonderful, wonderful cards, as always, Kate!! Xoxo, Kelly

Thank you for your comments; they make my day!
